Before we begin, I have to issue an apology regarding last week’s post.

One of our dear friends and faithful subscribers sent this image along. The top text is from our Substack.; the images below the text are the rebuttal.

I stand corrected — our parents are not in fact our only babysitters! To DiPerri’s great shame, he forgot that when he and Frega went to the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie, our babysitter was none other than the legendary friend who sent the message above. Frega had never forgotten this. As for DiPerri, the fool author of last week’s post, “memory” has not been counted amongst his talents as of late. And so Dear Reader, I take it all back.

It’s nice to have a friend. And a great babysitter.

As of today, our respective school years have concluded and we are on summer vacation! Woot!

Since childhood, DiPerri has always marked exciting days and the conclusion of longterm projects or endeavors the same way — with a massive migraine. The end of this school year was no different and all of his “first day of summer” plans were discarded as he was left completely incapacitated for the entire day.

Cool!

Join us this week as our plans are ruined!

THIS WEEK:

  • Our plans are ruined!

  • Order Buddy and Romeo plush toys before July 1st!

  • BEHIND THE PAYWALL: Revised summer plans

Unlike Romeo, I (DiPerri), usually just go to work anyway when I have migraines. My students always know I have a “migraine day” as they call it because the whole room smells like peppermint oil. One of my Class of 2018 students introduced me to peppermint oil as a soothing coping mechanism for headaches. It doesn’t make anything go away but it offers some much needed comfort. So on “migraine days,” I apply and re-apply peppermint oil all day, hold my forehead in my hands (even if standing) as if I’m in a constant state of worry and duress; walk around all hunched over and writhe behind my desk. One of my students this year had a different account of what I look like on those days. She described them as the days I “become really scary and look depressed.”

Enough about migraines. Let’s make some plans.

Hmm… suppose the plan changes…

We’ll try again tomorrow.

In case you’re new here, this summer, DiPerri is sewing individually handmade Buddy and Romeo stuffed toys. Here’s a clip from one of last year’s sewing sessions…

These dolls will not be for sale. Rather, they will be exclusive to paid subscribers of this Substack. Have a look at what I sewed this morning…

This is what the Buddy dolls look like so far.

If you want both a Buddy and a Romeo plush doll, please become a paid subscriber before July 1st.

We hope you’ll consider becoming a paid subscriber today to give your very own Buddy and Romeo stuffed toys a home.

If you’re already a paid subscriber, thank you. Your orders are in place. Stay tuned as the toys are brought to life and we chronicle DiPerri’s sewing adventures this summer.
