THIS WEEK:
Summer goals with the benefit of hindsight.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW: Jacket Story on CartoonStock
BEHIND THE PAY WALL: Summer getaways and A Very Frega DiPerri Summer
We tend to set goals for our summer, as I’m sure you do too. On paper those goals may seem reasonable but may soon prove to be too lofty. In recent years, our goals list has grown smaller so as not to leave us disappointed when the end of summer comes and we haven’t addressed each item. Let’s take a look back at some summer planning cartoons and offer a first impression response now that we’re nearly a decade removed from the time in which they were made.
DiPerri: Once cell phones gave everyone the luxury of having caller ID, Real Buddy used to answer the phone in college and say “Talk to me.” That’s pretty good, since my college girlfriend would use caller ID to send my calls straight to voicemail.
Frega: That’s it? That’s the whole comic? That’s so creepy!
DiPerri: Frega wrote this cartoon while we were having lunch at a restaurant. I can’t remember where but we were somewhere out of state and I remember sitting by a window and it was a beautiful sunny day.
DiPerri: I should be exercising literally right now. But instead, I’m using this brief moment of solitude for Substack. Actually, this is a great time to put it aside and go workout. See you behind the paywall.
After the cartoon above was published as a black and white daily comic strip, it was [water]colored and reformatted into a single panel cartoon, which you can license (along with other Frega DiPerri cartoons) here at CartoonStock.
