Now for a look at the local weather.

With the exception of the last panel, if you’re in the Northeast, this is your December weather report. We’ve had temps into the 60s and an extended director’s cut of November. Still waiting for the snow though.

Mostly, we’ve had rain. Lots of rain. Why, just this week, we had flooding conditions, which (had it been colder) would have been snow that accumulated into a nice day off from work and school for many happy individuals.

Although, I guess most people work from home these days, so what’s the difference anyway?

This pencil test animation of Buddy is significant for a couple reasons. For one, it was the first time I’d animated Buddy and learned his motion capability and the rules of logic for that movement. Secondly, I learned how to draw him better over the sequence of the motion. This is especially evident in that the hackie-sack motion was drawn in 2015, just ahead of the comic strip’s newspaper launch. The section in which he flips onto his back was drawn in 2017 and by that time, his character design was more resolved and streamlined.

We’ve been fortunate to have been contributing cartoons to Kappan magazine since we began submitting to them in 2021. Here is our latest cartoon for them, which is in the December 2023/January 2024 issue.

Recognize any of the kids? Young Buddy and Romeo are in the top right section of the classroom, happy to be in print in a national magazine.
